Switching to Classic Checkout in WooCommerce

Last updated on October 28, 2025

With WebToffee’s WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway and PayPal Express Checkout Payment Gateway plugin, store owners can easily add payment options such as Stripe and PayPal to their WooCommerce store. If you have block checkout activated, you might find that payment methods like Stripe and PayPal are missing from the checkout page. You can fix this by switching to the classic checkout.

Switching to the classic checkout

Here are the brief steps:

  1. Make a new page named classic checkout.
  2. Make the classic checkout the default checkout page.

Step 1 – Creating a new page titled Classic checkout

Creating a new page won’t impact the current block checkout page. Instead, you can edit the existing block checkout page by switching it to the classic checkout. Here are the steps to set up a new page for classic checkout:

  1. From the WordPress dashboard, go to Pages > Add New Page.
  2. Provide a title for the page, like “Classic Checkout.”
  3. Hit the “+” icon in the block editor or use the “Toggle block inserter” to insert a new block into the page.

4.Search for “Classic Checkout” and insert it into the page.

  1. Click on Update to save the page.

Now, store owners will have two checkout pages in their WooCommerce store.

Step 2 – Setting Classic checkout as the default checkout

  1. From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to WooCommerce > Settings.
  2. Click on the Advanced tab, then head to the “Page setup” section.

      3. In the “Checkout page” section, look for “Classic Checkout” (the newly made classic checkout page) in the dropdown menu           and choose it.

     4. Finally, click on Save changes to reflect the changes.

Alternative method

Rather than making a new page for classic checkout, store owners can substitute the current checkout with the classic version. Here are the steps:

  1. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Pages > All Pages.
  2. Select the Checkout page from the pages list to make edits.
  3. Please swap the current block checkout for the Classic Checkout.
  4. Lastly, hit Update to save the modifications.

The current block checkout will be substituted with the classic checkout page.

Once the steps above are finished, the classic checkout page will become the default, and customers will be directed there to finalize their orders. Customers can use payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal on the classic checkout page to complete their transactions.
