Set Up PayPal Direct Credit Card Checkout for WooCommerce

 With the PayPal credit card checkout payment gateway, customers can easily checkout without a PayPal account.

You can utilize this PayPal payment gateway to receive direct credit card payments on your site. Customers who don’t have a PayPal account can still use this payment option.

Pre-requisite

  1. Firstly, sign up and create a PayPal business account.
  2. Upgrade the business account to a pro before configuring the gateway.

Note

If the PRO upgrade option isn’t available, you can still offer a credit/debit card checkout option by integrating the Smart Buttons. Please refer to the article: Payment Gateway for WooCommerce for more information.:

The PayPal Credit Card Checkout payment gateway now works in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

 

Getting started

After installing the plugin, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal Credit Card Checkout > Manage.

Steps to Set Up PayPal Credit Card Checkout

Step 1: Enable the PayPal Credit Card Checkout payment gateway

  • Enable PayPal Credit Card Checkout: Select the checkbox to enable the Payment Gateway.
  • Title: It is visible on the Checkout page under the payment modes. Specify the Title as required (as you define it).
  • Regular Description: Specify the required description in this text box. Customers can view this description on the checkout page under the WooCommerce PayPal Credit Card payment method.
  • Order Button Text: Key in with the text of your choice that will appear on the checkout page as the order button text.
  • Finally, click on Save changes button.

Step 2: Link the PayPal API keys ( PayPal Credentials Settings)

To utilize the WooCommerce PayPal Credit Card Checkout Payment Gateway, you need a PayPal Business Pro account. You can create either Live or Sandbox accounts.

  • Sandbox mode: This mode is basically for testing purposes. The merchant can specify the sandbox credentials from PayPal to test the payment.
  • Live mode: When the site is ready for purchase, switch to the live mode. You can specify the live Username, Password, and Signature provided by PayPal.

Save the settings upon specifying all the details.

Checkout using a PayPal Credit Card

When setting up all the configurations for the PayPal Credit Card checkout payment gateway, the customer will see an option to pay with PayPal Credit Card checkout as illustrated below:

Checkout Workflow

Enter the credit card information such as the card number, type, expiry date, and CVV. Then click the Pay via PayPal Credit Card Checkout button to complete the order.
